Toad for Mysql is a database administration program developed by Quest Software. The software includes a database administration program, a query browser and an SQL editor. The great thing about Toad is that you can design, administer and manage everything with the help of the same package.

Toad includes a diagram builder, so you can design your database by selecting relationships, schemas and even data types. Once this is done, you can use the editor to create tables with the constraints you have chosen. Afterwards, you can administer the database using the inbuilt browser, which allows you to view and modify objects. However, the core of the program might be the query builder, which also allows you to add syntax for other languages, so that you can apply syntax highlighting to your code.

On the whole, the program is very powerful and contains a large amount of features built specifically for MySQL. However, although it claims to have an intuitive interface, the controls have a steep learning curve. Still this tool works great and may be ideal for DBAs looking for better tools.
